According to Terrell Owens bio, he was born in 1973 in Alexander City, Alabama. He exhibited a talent for sports from an early age, excelling in high school basketball, baseball and track, as well as in football.
Following a successful four-sport high school athletics career, T.O. (as he was called) was recruited by the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. In his senior season at UTC, Owens was named first-team All-Southern Conference.
T.O. Owens began his professional football career with the NFL in 1996 when he was tapped by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round as the 89th pick overall. He quickly became a valuable contributing player and despite some media controversies in the ensuing years that had nothing to do with his obvious talents he gained in stature and made the Pro Bowl four years in a row.
In 2004 Terrell Owens went to the Philadelphia Eagles in a thee-way trade. Owens played some great games that year as a member of a revitalized Eagles team which, after 20 years of trying, went to the Super Bowl. After the following year was marked by controversy due to injuries and disputes with management over money, Owens was released from his seven-year $49 million contract and in March 2006 signed on with the Dallas Cowboys.
