A Terrell Owens Jersey #81 is a Symbol…and Not Only of Football

In an informal survey the other day asked several people what a blue football jersey with #81 printed on it meant to them.  A group of teenaged boys shouted, T.O.! without hesitation.  A reporter friend of mine replied, Great copy, always. He always does something to write about. My dad responded, The best darned wide receiver the NFL has ever put on a football field.

Another friend said, it's going to be a great year for the Dallas Cowboys and for #81.� 
But my mother, also an avid football fan, had no trouble identifying the Terrell Owens jersey number either.  But she gave me a very different reason for why she says #81 is especially significant.  She reminded me that Terrell (T.O.) Owens is a celebrity spokesman for the Alzheimers Foundation and is active in other fund raising and charities as well.

Terrell Owens is famous for his speed, agility, and fearlessness as a wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys, and he also regularly makes headlines for his enthusiastic outbursts on the field and verbal contests off the field.  He also knows how to put the Terrell Owens jersey #81 to very good use in speaking out for worthy causes, such as Alzheimers research and AIDS education and service.

A consummate athlete dedicated to maintaining a healthy diet and year round fitness, T.O. Owens is also a pro athlete who puts his celebrity on the line and his heart and energy into positive initiatives.
