Terrell (T.O.) Owens has been playing major league football for over 12 years.  He began in 1996 when he was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers where he spent eight years thrilling crowds as a wide receiver.  In 2004-2005 Owens spent two seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles amid controversy and injuries before moving on to the Dallas Cowboys where he is now in his second season. 

Most football fans can only picture Terrell Owens as a football player.  But the avid T.O. fans who know him well could also easily picture Terrell Owens as a basketball player, or even a baseball player.  As a youngster Owens also excelled in swimming and track, which no doubt has added to his speed and strength as a pro athlete.

Terrell Owens is a consummate athlete and could conceivably have made as fine a career in any one of several sports as he has in football.  His single-minded dedication to fitness and a healthy diet and lifestyle makes him a great roll model for young athletes.  His enthusiasm for football and his dedication to the ideals of the game has risen above all controversies whether with NFL team management over contracts, spats with rivals teams and fans, or the over-zealous media attention he has always attracted.
